Metal Church

Die legendären Metal Church gehören mit Vicious Rumors zu den Mitbegründern und der absoluten Messlatte des amerikanischen Powermetals. Überhaupt verbinden beide Bands einige Parallelen. Gestartet mit jeweils 3 unerreichten Klassikern in die Annalen eingegangen, ging es danach leider nicht mehr wirklich aufwärts.

Das Debut der Band ist ein unbestrittener Metal-Klassiker, das in einer wahnwitzig schnellen Cover-Version von Deep Purples "Highway Star" gipfelt. Trotz auch weiterhin hochklassiker und teilweise von Fans und Presse unterbewerteter Veröffentlichungen bleibt der Erfolg aber aus. Die Band gerät in den typischen Teufelskreis, dem schon viele Metal-Bands zum Opfer gefallen sind. Gründe für den ausbleibenden Erfolg sind wie zu oft mittelmäßiges bis ausbleibendes Marketing, fehlende oder schlecht platzierte Live-Aktivitäten, personelle Probleme, mittelmäßige Produktionen und einfach Pech.

Bis Anfang der Neunziger noch eine wahre Institution und Inbegriff des Wortes "Metal", versinken Metal Church mit den letzten Veröffentlichungen immer mehr im Mittelmaß. Die Welt ist hart und auch hier wieder einmal ungerecht...
